    Hi All,
I have submitted my VAT return as £1855 to reclaim, I downloaded the VAT return to my computer from HMRC.
few days later, I log-into my HMRC VAT account again, I found the reclaim changed to £185,500.
I called the HMRC help desk several times to inform them about the error, nothing happened, also they don’t have the facilities to put a note in the account to say I called regarding the error.
one month later, the VAT man contacted me asking for 15% of the £185,500 as a penalty fee due to pay.
I explained to him what happened, I sent the original VAT return , that isn’t satisfied him, he ask for more evidence, I said if the VAT return evidence from the HMRC not satisfying you what other evidence will do?
in the end he isn’t satisfied, now he want to take me to Court

what can you advise me Guys

    Thanks

Wow that’s ridiculous, i myself have just had a run in with the lovely people at HMRC regarding vat. They want everything digital but there own systems are from the stone age and a simple error such as yours takes months if not years to resolve. Keep everything on it and make sure you send letters recorded delivery to try to get someone else who will help.  You can request another HMRC member to look at if not getting anywhere with him.
