Hello – I will be based in the UK and supplying IT-related services to a US company.  Should I charge the US company VAT?

For additional information: I will be employed by the GIANT Umbrella company (https://www.giantpay.co.uk/umbrella).  I submit a timesheet to them and they invoice the US company in GBP.  GIANT seem to think they will charge the US company VAT but, from my reading, that doesn’t seem to be correct.

I would be extremely grateful if someone was able to give me a definitive answer to this.

Thank you, in advance, for your kind help.

    Chris

If you provide services to customers outside the EU, you usually do not charge VAT
