Hi, Small fish but thought I’d get my answer here. I purchased an item from Amazon for £132.99 inclusive of VAT at £22.17. I then cancelled item for “full refund” but was refunded £110.82 exclusive of the VAT charged. Is this not VAT fraud? I now find myself paying £22.17 VAT for an item I never received. Thanks.
I’d suggest that you need to contact Amazon and ask for an explanation. On face value, VAT should not be charged if the goods have not been supplied. But I doubt that Amazon’s systems routinely withhold VAT when processing refunds – if they did, I’m sure others would have queried it before.
