    I filed my VAT return and paid on the day it was due (7th Oct) 
    I now have received a penalty for late payment?
    I feel bloody stupid.
    I thought the payment on the 7th would be ok

    I would write and query the charge personally.    I have done this successfully in the past when I felt the payment was made in time, but for some reason didn’t hit their system within the required timelines.
