Thanks very much for that detailed reply, which I fully understand. What has happened in this case is that the Builder has quoted a price for certain items at item level and states that they include VAT (there is also a mark up). He has then explicitly added VAT at Sub Total level, hence charging VAT twice. Sorry if that was not clear originally, but does that change your view?
